Krystal: "Now, you see why I put the couch in the closet?" Fox: "Mmm-hmmm."
I've seen these two all over and I've never actually done a picture of them together before. *laughs* Never thought about it really. But after seeing countless images of them just rendered standing there... No fur... No substance. They are just there. *shakes head*
Allow me to explain... I'm not bashing on anyone. Far from really. I actually applaud anyone who comes on anywhere there are "traditional" artists and posts 3D artwork. Because the general feeling among traditional artists is that it's "too easy" to create 3D. Sadly, when I look at artwork with no thought or feeling... Like for an example Krystal against a completely black background, no postwork, no fur, nothing and then someone saying, "It's Krystal she's Kawaii." Or some nonsense (I hate anime fans who butcher the Japanese language mostly because I speak and read Japanese and I didn't learn from a manga or cartoon... It's annoying to me. *laughs*) and then the person goes on to post 100's of pictures of the same Krystal without changing it much. An arm up... A leg up... A smile... Etc. The list goes on and on.
3D art... For me at least is about evolution. How far can you push the software to make everything look real? How far can you push your own imagination until you have something that conveys your feelings and other people can tell what those feelings are when they look at it?
Art is about expression... Even people who just scribble something on to a canvas and call it art have some kind of feeling behind it. Someone else sees and feels that feeling and buys it or proclaims it a great work of art...
Krystal... Spread eagle is not art... Krystal standing there smiling stupidly at the camera on a black background is not art...
So what's my point... My point is... Put some thought... Put some feelings in to it. Don't just render it because you have the model and you can render it. Put some post work in to it. Put some effort in to it. Because... *laughs* if you're going to work in a 3D medium... Be different, be creative, and most of all... DON'T BE LAME!!
Thank you... And good night.
*waits for the hate from people who think I'm talking about them and chuckles.*

Suddenly I'm sorely tempted to try to wrap my head around Lightwave again, if it can do fur this well. Poser's hair studio devours system resources to the degree it's utterly useless for, well, everything no matter how powerful your machine is.
Fully agree with your sentiments, too. Though I have done the odd simple Krystal pose, usually when trying out some new trick I've stumbled upon, it's never anywhere near as satisfying as pushing myself to try new things, especially when they actually work. :-D

"In case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight."
*laughs* Poser's hair room is nothing to write home about. (I've never used it because everything I tried to do looked more like it was made out of glass. Shiny as heck and looked godawful.) Plus it does kill any machine.
But I've seen a lot of art and even some called art with her actually T-posed. >.< *laughing* And I thought... How is this art? But I'm guilty of doing pictures of her that are only a little change, but I don't post them. Mostly just for reference for me, or if I get bored.
Anyhow, I'm glad you liked the pic. I like the border collie pictures you did.

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
